2024 International Digital Curation Conference

In this Connect& Share session, Hannah DeLacey, currently working at the Centre for Digital Scholarship as well as finishing up her PhD at the Law Faculty, will take us through the highlights of the International Digital Curation Conference that she visited in Edinburgh in February.

This year's conference theme was 'Trust through Transparency' and we look forward to a lively discussion on the role that the Data Management Community can play in increasing trust in academia and in separating fact from fiction.

"One of the (many) concerns of this age is the ability to trust information around us, especially as we enter a new era of Artificial Intelligence, where what you see cannot always be believed.  Transparency is one way to promote trust, by being clear about what we do, and why we do it. This is true whether you are the researcher creating data, the repository that curates that data, or a reuser of the deposited data.  Open Science promotes transparency in how data are collected, verified, and used, in order that we can trust findings built on them." https://www.dcc.ac.uk/events/idcc24

The main session will last one hour with extra time allocated for asking questions and continuing the discussion with those who wish to stay a bit longer. Please contact [email protected] if you are not a member of the Research Data Management Community and would like to attend.

About Connect & events

This event is part of the “Connect and …” series of meetings arranged by, and for, the Leiden University Research Data Management Community. The meetings take around the middle of the month, every month, at different days and times, so as to maximize access according to people’s different working hours. Topics and speakers are proposed by members of the Community.

You can post a suggestion in the Community's MSTeams space, or write to [email protected], if you have a topic you'd like to discuss in a future meeting and the CDS team will help to make it happen.

If you’re interested in joining us, please fill out the registration form.
