How to watch a movie?
Date: 8 April 2025 @ 19:30 - 21:30
Timezone: Amsterdam
As a follow-up to 1 April, Concordia Cinema is screening Rear Window. Because if there's one film ideal for depicting what film watching is about and how it is that you get involved in a story, it's this classic. Hitchcock plays an ingenious game, almost literally on the square. Jeff Jeffries (James Stewart) has broken his leg and is spying on the opposite neighbours through binoculars. When he believes he observes a murder, he tries to share his experiences with his girlfriend (Grace Kelly); the point of view of the protagonist and the viewer coincide – the camera only leaves the room once. The film harbours all the typical Hitchcock characteristics: dry humour, suspense, carefully hidden erotic tension and beautifully stylised camerawork. Alfred Hitchcock, 112 minutes, 1954, English spoken, Dutch subtitled. Regular ticket price: €11. Up to 30 years of age: €9. Tickets: www.concordia.nl
