In this 'In contact with collections' workshop, you will come face to face with history. Under the guidance of experts from the Leiden University Libraries (UBL), you will have the opportunity to closely examine and even handle some of the most precious objects in the Leiden Special Collections. Naturally, the curator will explain what makes each piece so special.

The UBL owns hundreds of maps of the Middle East. Many of these maps were created by Westerners, who often revealed their Western perspective on the region through their work. Other maps in the collection were crafted by local cartographers. Explore some of the oldest maps in the Leiden collection with the guidance and information of curator Martijn Storms.
