Diamond Open Access journals represent community-driven, academic-led, and academic-owned publishing initiatives, perceived as the potential future of the scholarly publishing process, aligning with Plan S. However, their prevalence remains limited at present. This event aims to explore the trajectory of Diamond Open Access and provide practical guidance on contributing to this significant transition within the academic realm.

The session starts with a presentation by Jan Willem Wijnen, discussing Plan S and the role of Diamond Open Access. Subsequently, a panel session with Jan Willem Wijnen, Maria Mos and Ronald Leenes will delve into the practical implementation of Diamond Open Access. Panelists, who have either initiated a Diamond Open Access journal from inception or played a role in transitioning from gold to Diamond Open Access, will share insights into the associated challenges and opportunities. Join us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape and contribute meaningfully to this crucial shift in academic publishing.

Free lunch is provided, please register for the meeting so that is possible to have a correct estimate of the amount to order.
