Date: 14 February 2024 @ 14:00 - 15:30

Timezone: Amsterdam

Join us in redefining the boundaries of love and knowledge, in particular love to Open Science! Open Science brings big changes in the existing academic system, including new approaches to recognition and rewards of researchers. These approaches need to be supported by new types of structured information about scholarly activities and outputs and new strategies for using and analyzing this information. How do we make sure that data sharing, data privacy, data preservation, open methods, and reproducible and transparent research are endorsed by funders, publishers, institutions, and learned societies? What do the current practice and the future look like?

In the upcoming event, Open <3 Science, we delve into the essence of Open Science, exploring its practical applications and envisioning a future where research assessment aligns with its principles. After two exciting talks, there will be an interactive session where participants will engage with a newly developed board game designed to spark thought-provoking discussions on the subject. We interpret love not only as emotion but also as deep understanding.

This event is part of the international Love Data Week; you can find the list of events happening around the world here.

Love Data Week

Love Data Weekwas established in 2016 as Love Your Data week. Originally created in the USA, it quickly grew to an international event in which a wide range of institutions, organizations, scholars, students, and other data lovers could celebrate their data. Originally coordinated by Heather Coates, the planning committee developed themes, wrote and curated content, and developed activities. The aim was to celebrate data in all its forms, promote good research data management strategies, share data success and horror stories, and ask hard questions about the role of data in our lives.

In 2018, the name was officially changed to Love Data Week. In 2021, ICPSR became the official hosting institution for Love Data Week.
