Supporting FAIR data: File formats
This training, "Supporting FAIR data: File formats" was offered as a 45-minute session during the first day of the DCC-PO FAIR course that took place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on January 16, 2023. The file formats training session was led by Maaike Verburg and Pascal Flohr from Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS-KNAW). The target audience was data stewards and other research supporters from Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. The target skill level of the audience was intermediate. The training was delivered in Dutch.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- (advice on how to) evaluate which file format is most suitable to use.
- distinguish between file formats for use and for long-term preservation.
- (advice on how to) choose if and how to convert proprietary formats into open formats.
- identify tools and guidance on file formats.
